Dick Howser was a player in the big leagues from 1961 thru 1968, but he is perhaps better remembered as a Manager for the New York Yankees and the Kansas City Royals.
Dick was the American League Rookie of the Year in 1961. He was a two time All Star. A three time World Series Champion as manager. His uniform # 10 is retired with the Kansas City Royals ( The first number the Royals retired ). He guided the Royals to the franchise's first World Series Title in 1985. He died of brain cancer in 1987.
