This was given to me at Christmas by my younger brother's family. I tried to use it a media server, like a Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast etc., however for our purposes, I needed to get a full desktop running with a powerful video card, before the HD HomeRun app would run correctly and pull down the FIOS cable signal. I think running as an ordinary media server it might work fine, just not with the HD HomeRun App...

Of course there are a million other things to do with the Raspberry Pi. This kit comes with a USB holder of the 32GB SD micro card which is now imaged with a Linux barebones instance and the Kodi server. For other projects you will need to reimage the card with different operating systems images. You can start here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs/.

I'm including a diagram of the pin outs for the Raspberry 3, but I can't find the Quick Start Guide. However you can get the most up to date PDF and view a video on how to start here: http://www.canakit.com/quick-start/pi. How to proceed, also is detailed in the many magazines I'm providing with this lot. Of course all kinds of Pi projects are available on the web.

Does it have a linex os on the sd card and by linex I'm mean noobes

It has Linux yes. I'm not sure if the NOOBS is still there. My impression is once you make a selection with NOOBS, NOOBS itself goes away. So originally I made the selection on using the NOOBS preinstalled to choose the mini-Linux distribution customized for KODI media server and including KODI.

When you start the machine, it boots right into KODI. I don't know how to access NOOBS again. To get NOOBS again for sure, just reimage the mini-SD card using the USB miniSD holder that is included in the package. You can get new NOOBS images here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/downloads/noobs.

Oh I've herd about kodi thanks for the info so what you mean is there is 2 os operating system on the micro sd cars

I'm not sure how NOOBS operated on the card in this kit before I chose the mini-Linux/Kodi distribution. It's possible many OSes were available, and they were all stored on the card. It's also possible that when I made the choice on NOOBS, it downloaded my choice from Internet. I think I was connected to the internet as the Raspberry 3 has WiFi.

Basically the NOOBS system gives you a choice of a few OSes including the non-GUI Windows. I'm not sure if the OSes are on the card or downloaded after you make the choice :-).
