What's cool about this CD is you just pop it into your CD Rom and turn on or restart your computer this will leave your current operating system untouched but you can play around with Ubuntu to see if you like it. If you do then you will have an option to install the full version.
You can "Install inside Windows"
Questions & Comments
Ubuntu is the most user friendly linux os available...I'm actually on it right now!!!! The 9 version is out but I'm still using the 8 cause I like the boot screen better!! You definitely need internet to use this though for all the free apps available thru the package manager...Once you download the apps you like then you wont need to be connected to the web....
You know I had every intention of making me a Linux Machine and just never got around to it. But I love just about everything free including open source applications like Ubuntu.
You know...if your running a windows computer, this will run along side(it will partition the harddrive) and you can choose between the os u want to use at the bootscreen....I recommend at least a 80 gig harddrive but I've seen people use less then that.
I'm getting me a ASUS G1s Gaming Laptop and I'm trying to decide if I want to take the Windows Vista off and use my Ubuntu. I have an extra disk but I think its a 32bit where this one is 64 bit. What are your thoughts?
I recommend downloading the lastest version from the ubuntu site instead of the 8.04 version...8.04 is only going to be supported til next year i believe, then it will become unsecure( I think)....Plus, you won't spend so long installing the 200 or so updates you need to keep it running smooth....as far as deleting vista...I wouldn't if you wanna keep it a gaming laptop...just partition it since most gaming laptops have such a large hdd.
