Description

The listing, 2 REAL Mullein leaves (NOT FOR INGESTING) - An Old World Multi Purpose Plant has ended.

I found this plant, as a weed in my yard. It was so interesting, that I researched it.

I came to find out, it was NOT a "weed", but a highly valued, historical plant, with many uses.

I just read that 1 can put the leaves in shoes, like insoles, to ease "stinky feet".

Other uses, are as a poultice for bruises.

There are so many uses for this plant.

However, any effectiveness, is relative. Ancient peoples, did manage to survive for thousands of years, but their botanical uses, may or may not have actually helped anything.

You can do some research on this plant yourself to discover it's supposed uses.

Plants generally are powerful, as can be seen in the great number of shampoos, balms, etc, with plant extracts in them.

Here's a site that claims it can be used in many health preparations, such as soaps, oils, etc.

The 2nd & 3rd photos, are of a 1st year plant, of which the leaves offered came off of.

The photos with the flower spike, are 2nd year plants, & 1 of the reasons this plant is also called the torch plant, or candle wick plant.

Listia, if I'm not supposed to list this sorry.

I've seen inedible herbs offered on here before, so since I had to give this plant a "hair cut" (because it planted itself in one of my veggie beds, where I want to plant something else, I wanted to make as much room for what is supposed to be in the bed, so clipped the outer leaves, but I didn't kill the wayward plant itself.)

I thought I might list some on here, in case someone might want to get aquainted with it, and find a use for some of the leaves.

If Listia cancels tis listing for some reason, I'll find a use for them.

I just thought I have a few to share, if anyone else wanted any.

I actually very much appreciate them, just showing up in my garden.

I use the leaves in my veggie "Scrap Frappe" (pureed plant matter) fertilizer.

I also dehydrated 2 leaves & crushed them. (last photos)

When fresh the leaves were also used as a natural toilet paper :)

Yes, I did read that about them. It's really a survivalists friend. The birds love the seeds too! The plant survives with little care, so it's great for an erosion controller, ground cover, or to grow where nothing else will grow.

will you be auctioning seeds in the future so we can grow our own plants?

I was going to save seeds to them, but I think the birds ate them all. I have 3 one yr plants, that will seed next year. I'll have to cover the spike so the birds won't eat them all. I don't mind sharing with them, bu I think they were so thrilled with them, they landed right on the spike and pecked out as much seed as they wanted. I had 5 2nd year plants this year. I should have done more with them, but I was so busy. I take the deead 2nd year plants, spikes and all, and cut them up into my Scrap Frappe fertilizer. Then throw the Scrap Frappe on empty beds I cleared for the winter. That way, if there are any seeds the birds missed, they might sprout in my cleared beds next year. Then any baby plants can be transplanted out of the beds, to more suitable areas, and I can then plant the now vacant beds as I like. I adult Mullein in the 3x3 bed, I just let stay there because I was backlogged on my garden plan, and planting. Once established, Mullein, can self seed. That's where my unexpected plants came from. If you don't want it where it ends up, then just wait a year, and it will flower, and completely die. Then it can be removed to free up the space it was in. While the 1st yr plant is alive, the leaves can be harvested for various uses.
