The listing, Antique/Vintage Powder Horn Drinking Glass/Stein/Mug! #2 WOW! has ended.
I tried to determine the date of this wonderful piece and came up with a little info, but I am no expert. If anyone can enlighten me, I'd really appreciate it!
Powder horn drinking glass have been around for quite a while. This piece is probably molded glass of some sort because of the seams on the side. I found a graphic of how to determine age of old bottles by seam so I thought maybe this corresponded with this piece. Who knows! The first graphic shows a graphic with the seams up to a point below the top. This bottle is dated 1880 - 1900 On the drinking glass the seam goes up to the ring of glass on top(I think) It's really hard to see and feel if this DOES go that far up.
Another graphic shows the seams going only half way up the 2nd ring of glass. This dates 1860 - 1880..The top ring of glass was probably added later, as in the bottles.
Confused? Me, too! To me this glass looks like art deco style so I DON"T HAVE A CLUE! But this is a fantastic piece! What stories it could tell! I also have another of the same glass listed in another auction.
You could also use this as a vase or wouldn't it make a darling Ice Cream Sundae glass?
