This is a very cool box.
Made in Alaska
The top is very heavy because it is stone. The stone has fossilized fish on it. It is a mauve color. The rest of the box is wood. I don't know what kind.
It measures about 7" x 7" and is a bit over 2" high

Inside the box are some pretty nice necklaces, a metal dragon bracelet, etc., and various items that might appeal to a younger person. Everything you see in the picture..and I might find more goodies to put in.

The design is etched into the stone, it's not coming off.

What a treasure!! The salmon are etched in soap stone which is very popular for carvings & this type of art..I have a mama & baby bear that my father bought me on a fishing trip there in 1977 & he paid $50 for it then so you can imagine what it is worth now as it is signed..Soap stone is heavy but soft for carving/cutting & sooo beautiful…watching & preparing myself for winner envy as I know the bids will go thru the roof :)) Mourning the kitty coat hanger too =^..^=

I'm trying to find more neat things to go into the box! Everybody likes surprises, but this box is really the best thing..at least in my opinion! I love it and I'm happy to see that others do, also. Wow, every fisher mans dream..to catch a "big one" in Alaska! I've been there once..I'll never forget it. I'm sorry u didn't get the kitties, Susan, but you know how it goes..thanks for writing. Much appreciated.
