Garner was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1994 draft by the Eagles and spent his first 5 seasons backing up Herschel Walker then Ricky Watters in Philadelphia, putting up strong numbers (4.6 average yards per run) before becoming a bona fide star with the San Francisco 49er, for whom he had back-to-back seasons over 1100 yards. The 49er also utilized Garner as a receiver, and he pulled down 124 catches in 2 seasons with ther 49ers (vs 75 in 5 seasons in Philly). In Oakland in 2002, Garner put up 962 yards on the ground, alongside 91 catches, proving his meddle as one of the NFL's best double threats. He retired at age 32 following 2 injury-plagued seasons, with over 7000 yards rushing and over 400 receptions. he was a Pro Bowler in 2000 for the 49ers.
