At the end of a long day at work, Billy Batson, Captain Marvel's 10 year old alter-ego, finds himself answering Captain Marvel's fan mail, a task as draining as any battle the Captain has ever found himself in, when a note from a doctor at a Children's Hospital catches Billy's attention. Instead of asking something for herself, the Doctor asks if he could spend some time with the children to boost their spirits. Her words speak both to Billy's and the Captain's hearts, and a few days later Captain Marvel goes to see the children. Unbeknownth to either Billy or the Captain there is one young boy who needs him badly, almost as badly as Billy needs him.
