The listing, FLAT BACK WHEAT PENNY - MINT ERROR has ended.
On this 1946-D Mint error the back is flat - with no E PLURIBUS UNUM .. on the back of this coin you can see the out line of ONE CENT and the wheat but it's flat its just a out line....
When you look at this coin it ease to see something is wrong with it & the back is flat.... when the penny was made there was something blocking the punch from pressing into the back of coin most likely a-lot of Grease ,, What ever it was is still part of the coin , the black of it is pressed into the copper of the coin...I never clean coins but i tried everything many time to get this black off ,, it will not come off ,and where the grease was the thickest there is groves in the penny,, i am 100% sure this happened at the mint...
"strike-through" coin is made when another object comes between a blank and a die at the time of striking. That object's outline is pressed into the blank's surface. Common examples include hard objects such as staples, metal shavings, and other coins as well as soft objects such as cloth and grease
