Description

The listing, Daisy Mum Embossing Folder has ended.

This embossing Folder is one I call "Daisy Mum Embossing Folder." This is a folder by Darice. It measures 5 3/4 inches by 4 1/4 inches.

This can be used for scrapbooking, embellishing, card making, or more. It can help add texture and style to your paper and cardstock projects. These folders fit most embossing machines. It works best with heavy weight cardstock. Google Tim Holtz for a "how to" site. It's linked to many you-tube videos. Tim Holtz also sells a sander (which I do not include in the auction) which can make the embossing "pop." Anna Griffin likes to take embossing folders and use a brayer and washable metallic ink to ink the folder. She then inserts a piece of paper then runs it through the embosser. She also has used just an ink pad to dab the image that's embossed. Plus, she also lightly sands the embossed image. This should work in most popular embossing machines.

Now, do these have raised edges? I'm looking at them for using with my polymer clay pieces. I make Fairy Garden items and I wanted to use some of the embossing folders to roll overtop of the clay and sprinkle with mica powders to bring out the images. As a background/pattern to the fairy doors. Would this work? Kinda like, texture sheets for clays. Thanks!

Yes, they are raised a little bit like you would see an embossing on a wedding invitation. But, the impressions for most of these would not be deep enough to use with the polymer clay pieces. Remember how when we were in school, you could take a pencil or crayon and go across a surface and you got a rubbing or an impression of the item? That's kind of like that except a little bit deeper. However, I do sell some butterfly stickers. The tinsy size is all sold out and I can't replace them, but there are a few small butterflies on the size I do still have left (and I don't have many of those items.) They have gold rim around them. I'll be relisting one of those sticker items this weekend if you are interested. They would be perfect for the fairy gardens. The embossing folders would be good for a background though for the polymer clay art. For example, the clouds (which could be filled in with clay and made into mud or water puddles or tiny ponds) or perhaps one of the grass or tree ones for a background especially if you use a cardboard then glue the impressed background on top then hinge two together like a V shape (or a 90 degree angle) going horizontally. I hope you can get the idea of what I am saying.

Thank you! Sounds like they may work for what I need then :)

You are welcome! I think these particular Daisy Mums might be too shallow for the poly clay, but some of the folders might be better than others as they have a deeper impression. All you have to do is ask and remind me please!

Will do :) Thank you! I'm looking for the ones that have deeper ridges (tho, shallow ones may work just as well. the imprint doesn't really need to be very deep) and mostly ones that have a pattern to them. I don't do the ones that have single images in the corner or specific themes. Something like a quilted or woven pattern, a pattern that repeats itself throughout the entire folder. If you take a peek at my FB fan page under Crystal's PolyCreations, you can see some of the doors that I have done. Some have wood grain, stripes, swirls etc and I've used mica powders brushed lightly over them to bring the patterns out. If you have any more of those types, I'd be very interested. Thank you!

You are welcome and actually I do have some that will work. For example, I have the wood grain, stripes, retro circles, and a lot more. Just keep watching my pages because I usually have embossing folders for sale including seasonal ones that would be fun (you can even experiment with elves making Christmas toys if you wish instead of fairy doors. Sounds like fun! I'll have to check it out!

I actually made a Christmas themed "Elf Door" around Christmas time. Made them a lil bigger for more life like size for those Elf on the Shelfs they sell! It was SO much fun and the customers LOVED them!

How cute! And, I'm assuming that for St Paddy's Day you made Leprechauns? I looked at your things on line and you are so talented!
