After further research, for older tv's WITHOUT USB RECEPTACLES, only the Roku Box can be hooked up, using included a/v cables (though it can be used on a smart tv, as well using the HDMI Cable, also included). The Roku Stick has only HDMI cable for use with smart tv's.

After speaking with amazon, +, roku advisers there is no need for an extra cord. this will indeed work on your tv.
