I was hoping to use them with a sock but they were still to big. So I guess so. I do not wear an 8 so that might be the best answer I can give.

No, they are in new like condition!! I purchased them during the winter and only tried them with sock. 8 was for sure way to big for barefeet!!! I purchased a 7 since then and it fits perfectly. So 8 is true to size. Since it has gotten warmer in California, I have worn the 7 barefoot and they are soooo comfy!!
