This is one of the first "magic jacks" to come out! We used it for years and paid like 19.99 for a year of free phone. My mother in law still has hers that we bought for her. This works just like new and I have the cd (hopefully in my cabinet), but if not, you plug your phone in that you want to use (old school phone) and plug into usb port on computer or laptop and pay to start and then you have a free phone. You can pay by the year which I think is now $29.99 or pay for more time. It's an amazing great working product.

I would say: you have to have a phone cord connected into the magic jack,, so that would be the only way it would work..... so unless your ip phone has a phone cord plug in slot... possibly!

Yes we did when we used it or you can get a new number. You are also able to change your number one time again for free. We loved it. But it does have to be plugged into a computer, laptop...etc.....
