The Houston Rockets made Griffin the 7th overall pick in the 2001 draft. Throughout his career, he battled alcohol problems, leading to his release from Houston as well as from the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2007. Shortly after his release from the T-Wolves, an intoxicated Griffin was struck by a train while driving.
