The games played mark still stands, although the 104 steals has since been broken (currently held by Rickey Henderson). Wills was awarded MVP honors for the campaign. He once led the league in steals 6 straight seasons, and compiled nearly 2134 hits in just 1593 career games. Wills was an All Star 5 times, and a Gold Glove winner twice.

Wills started 1969 with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was moved to the Montreal Expos midseason: he is pictured here in his Pirates jersey with the Pirates logos covered over.
