Up for auction is this great home training tool for use in curbing your dog's bad behavior. It was given to me several years ago when I purchased the services of Bark Busters, a very well known dog training company. It is a "packet" with noisy metal pieces inside that dogs HATE the sound of when they clink together and make contact with tile, hard flooring, baseboards, etc. The idea is to throw the pack at the floor when a dog is doing a behavior you want to curb (barking excessively, jumping on people, etc). The noise startles them & they associate that bad noise with their behavior. After repeating this procedure several times, they will learn not to do the bad behavior to avoid the bad noise. I want to be clear that this pack is to be thrown at an area where it will make sound upon impact (I use my baseboard near the front door when the dog is jumping on visitors). IT IS NOT TO BE THROWN AT THE DOG!!! As you can see from the photo, the item is reasonably worn - I have used it to train 3 dogs - but it is made of durable tent-like material so I expect it to last long enough to help several more dogs / dog owners out. Did it really work? I am still training my maltipoo who is 1 1/2 yrs. old. We've had him for about 2 months now and he goes into protective mode whenever we have visitors over. He barks excessively specially at male guests, not sure why but he never has problems with female guests that much. I would like to give this a try. Watching and already a fan :)

It has helped me with 3 dogs. As with most training aids, your timing is really important so the understand which behavior it is that is not acceptable. Also consistency - they have to hear it every time when they do the bad behavior for it to click in their mind that all they have to do is stop the behavior & the ugly noise will stop. With those two things in mind, it has worked well for me. Some behavior has changed in just a few hours; with my stubborn dog it took almost a month but it did work.
