i own a new beetle and have the same alarm key going to frig with the origional key attatchment if it dosnt work in the car and switch it out with this one should work for the alarm
Most offten a key is cut specificaly for each vehicles ignition switch just like the lock on a door knob to a house but im not sure with vw where its not your typical key looks more like a worm that chewed through wood LOL
