These are SO much cuter than the picture shows! Easy to put in and take out. Just squeeze on one end to insert. I believe this is made of plastic and coated with a shiny metallic-like coating to make it look exactly like Hematite. These are small, suitable for children or pets or just a small amount of hair. The picture shows top and side views. You can see on the right hand side that there are little "teeth" to grab the hair well to keep the barrette from falling out.
