Looking to get into php, would you say this one is geared more for a noob? I do have some background programming experience with html (LOL).

It's not a "How To" by any means. There are chapters on "What Is PHP" and the structure of a PHP program, but it's really just crammed full of info about the syntax, use, etc. As discussed above, O'Reilly books make great (some would say exhaustive) references but they're not exactly newbie-friendly LOL
