Description
The listing, 2009 Unopened Mint Box LP2 - Formative Years Lincoln Cents has ended.
In 2009 the US mint issued a series of four designs to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth and the 100th anniversary of the Lincoln cent. This is for the unopened mint box containing one P roll and one D roll of the LP2 cents (Formative Years), just as I got them from the mint in 2009. Each of these designs was minted for only a three month period in 2009. Who knows how many boxes have been opened to search for errors and gems? I will have the LP3 nd Lp4 unopened boxes listed also. The box pictured is the one you will receive. Pictures 2 and 3 show what the rolls inside look like. All Listia rules apply and I can only ship to the United States. You must have a Listia verified address. Thanks for stopping by and good luck with all your bids and listings. Roger
Questions & Comments
This was supposed to be a GIN only offering but I forgot to click the button. The other two sets that I had listed with the GIN only lasted less than a day. Happy bidding and good luck!
The mint produced these as collector items. They boxed one P roll and one D roll in each set in the special mint paper shown in pictures two and three. The tray inside each box actually has slots for five rolls but there is only one roll from each mint included. i have no LP1 or LP4 sets left. The mint would only let each address order five sets of each design and i got the maximum. They are almost gone.
These were produced by the mint as collector sets. That is the reason they designed their own paper rolls in which to package them. I have included pictures of a Philadelphia roll and a Denver roll so you can see what they look like. These rolls were not available from banks, coin dealers or anyone else. They could only be obtained from the mint and only in the two roll boxed sets. Any individual roll in this paper could only have come from one of these boxes. Each physical address (not person) could order from one to five sets. The mint would not ship more than five sets to any address so a dealer could not have ordered hundreds of sets to sell at a markup. Many of the sets have been opened to search for errors (especially the LP2) and coins to be sent to grading services like PCGS and NGC so no one knows how many are left unopened. This is a rare opportunity to get sets of these varieties and it won't last long. I am about out and I have never seen any listed by anyone else.
You say the box pictured is the one you will ship, but the box has LP3 on it, I have some of these rolls already, can you let me know which ones you are selling?, Thanks
Adding a complete eight coin set of the 2009 commemorative Lincolns in 2 coin 2x2s to this listing. Again, thanks for dropping by and good luck with your bids.
