On the back there is a rubber stopper that you simply remove & put your favorite potpourri inside it or you can get some cotton balls and put your favorite scent (perfume, scented oil, etc) on the cotton balls & then place them on the inside & then just replace the rubber stopper & hang it wherever you'd like.
