I see. Those are nice! Yeah it would be neat..our microwave stopped working so we just use either our oven or toaster oven instead. Just decided we don't really need a microwave..they are nice for on the go, but most of the time we just prepare things ahead of time. Love stoneware..I've seen these in store and all that, but never really looked at it until now. Great auction..if I had a microwave I would be bidding, but I wish you much luck:)

Personally I would recommend a rice cooker for rice, but it would be fine for "reheating" rice, I'm sure...I found a nice website with recipes specifically for this cooker, copy and paste into your location bar...they look pretty good! Here's what I found out: It's important to note here Stone Wave is only intended for use in the microwave oven. The steam-release chimney and domed lid help re-circulate the heat, which is the best way to cook in your microwave.

All the recipes should be cooked on high. Keep in mind that microwave cooking times will vary. so once you're done cooking, check to make sure your food is thoroughly cooked. If it needs more cooking, put it back in the microwave and heat in 15-second intervals until it is thoroughly cooked.

So, I would say no...it is designed for microwave oven use only.

I wondered the same thing as it would be cool to use in the oven but these are not real heavy duty thick, either so I'd recommend getting some nice thick pottery type oven casserole dishes...I have a few old "girls" I keep for making mini quiches and such for myself....something like this: http://www.robynwebb.com/fabulousfoodfinds/?p=629
