How much for free shipping ?

We do not do free shipping. Right now credits can be bought 12,000+ for $3.99; we have almost 260,000 from our wins. So credits are nothing to us, whereas money is. We are on limited SS income. The first week we had winners, the postage ran over $50; now it is running over $100 almost every week. We can give the books to a local charity and get a tax deduction, another reason why we don't pay postage. We actually hunt for books for our regulars, so we are not just getting rid of unwanted items when we post on Listia. Wish we were able to do free, but we cannot. Thanks for writing us.

What's the point of doing these book auctions if you only get 40 credits because most people don't want to pay for free shipping

I have so many auctions won that I don't need any credits. I have bid on everything I have found that I can use, and still have 244,000+ right now. As to free shipping, let me ask you: why does anyone pay someone to take their items? The first shipment I did on Listia the postage at the post office was over $50. I could have taken those same books to any of our charity stores here in town, gotten a tax write off, and had $50 to spend. I rarely ever post anything but books (have done a few DVD, tapes, etc), because I buy books so cheaply here. I try to put a postage amount that will get the book out of here without costing me; sometimes I make a few pennies, sometimes I lose a few. But I am retired, a real book nut, and have many sources for getting books here. Most of the residents of HS, and a large portion of the county, are old, buy books to read, and get rid of them. I have regular bidders that will win 10 to 30 books a month, so we combine postage and they get books cheaper than elsewhere. I am on very limited SS income; the way my regular bidders and I work seems to please all of us. If you will check all the books listed month by month, I think you will find that I usually have books no one else has because I post what some bidders ask me to find for them. We were maintaining over 100 auctions (which only those of us who have reached a certain level with Listia can do) until I had health/physical problems and had to cut back. Now I am able to post a few books along but have not been able to get back up over 100 due to the wins of my auctions. If I ever find enough things on Listia to use credits, then maybe I will increase my beginning amount, but I don't see the need and I know most of my bidders appreciate my auctions. I hope my rambling has answered your question. Alway glad to explain any thing any one asks......if I can.
