The listing, SATSUMA Hand Painted Pitcher Creamer has ended.
I got a set of this pattern of Satsuma in an auction about 20 years ago. I knew nothing of it except it was quite pretty. I packed it away. A few years ago (maybe 5 ) I took this piece out to list on another site but never did. It went into a drawer away from the set which was and is packed in a far and distant room (lol)...
This is "at least" 20 years old, I assume older and any repetitive pictures are there to show the detail and beauty. Please enlarge them to see the beauty.
It stands 4-1/4 inches tall and 4-1/2 at the spout. Loaded with hand painted gold trim and raised gilt flowers and human accents, it is covered too with white painted raised dots The handle is trimmed in unworn gold, think 24kt altho it is not marked so. The hand painting is exquisite and very detailed. Both scenes depict an "old man emperor", a geisha dancer and perhaps a servant or monk. Quite colorful in pinks, yellows and blues plus the rest of the pitcher.
No cracks, chips, flea bites or crazing, it has been well cared for over time. The whole set will eventually go on here in pieces as I find the container. The bottom shown is the cherry blossom red flower with "LD" in the center offset. States HAND PAINTED SATSUMA 2". No other markings I find. It has NO ring when struck for those who care to know for obvious reasons. the porcelain is white so it is more modern than 19th century.
Please ask questions if I missed something, I tried to be complete.
Perfect gift!
