I happened to be in an extremely magical place at the correct time and was privileged to experience the mating rituals of a Hawaiian Butterfly; known by Islanders as The Willow.
They all congregate to a certain area on this beach. They fly in, in the 100,000's...
Its a sight & a privilege to behold..
The Willows arrive from different Islands in the Pacific and come there to breed.
Breeding last for 48 hours, the females lay their eggs and die.
The males fly away to hopefully return another season...
They come back to the same spot(which I've named Butterfly Beach) every year and the life cycle starts again...
Willows are NOT a protected or endagered.
Your not allowed to CAPTURE any of Hawaii's Beautiful Butterflies, especially the males BUT after death you are allowed to COLLECT & keep the females...
Anyway, that year, I came home with hundreds of Willow Wings, which can be used for many many projects...
This Miniature Butterfly Angel dome is 100% Handcrafted, from start to finish and no two are exactly the same.
