Mercury-Atlas 9 was the final manned space mission of the U.S. Mercury program, which launched May 15, 1963 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Named Faith 7, it completed 22 Earth orbits before coming down in the Pacific Ocean while piloted by astronaut Air Force Major Gordon Cooper.
