Description

The listing, Pear tree cutting has ended.

This listing is for a cutting from one of our three trees. This is not rooted.

We have 3 huge pear trees in our orchard that are humongous and provide us with way too much fruit to use. They are of 3 different varieties but I do not know what kind they are. I believe one is a bartlett but they were here when we bought the place and they are all three very sweet and juicy. Sometimes pears are mealy to me and these are not. Very firm flesh. In summer I pick one and bite into it and juice literally rolls down my chin. I have taken to having a napkin in my pocket when I go around the place because I just can't resist them!

I absolutely love these. None of the fruit from these trees have a mealy consistency that comes from some types of pears. They are a crisp, clean, smooth taste to me. I hope that explains the sensation when you bite into it.

I googled "How to root a cutting from a pear tree" and found basically you would need rooting hormone, peat and perlite. And a mister, heating things. Read up on it and figure out if it is for you. I figure that if I try something that doesn't cost me too much that it's okay for me as everything is interesting. Often I have managed to beat the odds and come up with something that shouldn't and have flopped with some that are supposed to be slam dunks. Go figure. lol

Do these pears need frozen weather to thrive, and bear fruit?
