The listing, PAIR of CONSECUTIVE 156 year old news papers The New York Herald - dated March 10th and 11th, 1859 has ended.
Step back in time by reading these TWO ore Civil War 1859 editions of The New York Herald. These are both entire newspapers, not just clippings. They are each 8 pages long! These are two of the thickest papers in my collection. (16 pages total). There are 6 columns of print. This was the typical style of that era.
References to the 1860 election, murders, deaths, slavery, etc. There are advertisement for the play "Our American Cousin" starring Laura Keene (that is the play Lincoln was watching 5 years later when assassinated - same actress)
These are consecutive editions numbered 2822 and 8223. It's rare to find 2 back to back editions like this and in readable condition. And these are in EXCELLENT condition.
There are two pages in the March 11th edition with cutting errors. The paper was folded when cut and it ended up with extra material on the bottom corner. A very cool error to have.
These are perfect for framing!
The edges are not perfect on the right side but that is to be expected given their age and adds character. No editorial is missing and all is readable. The other 3 sides are nearly perfect.
There are also classified ads, advertisements with prices, and articles.
Newspapers printed after 1799 and prior to 1860 are considered "Antebellum Papers" and were printed on naturally acid free "rag linen" paper so they held up much better than our newspapers of today.
Bidding starts at zero and shipping is FREE! They will be shipped securely with tracking and insurance. They have been folded in the past and will be shipped that way without causing a change in condition. These are NOT reprints or reproductions. These are original newspapers, guaranteed
