That must be nice getting your husband outside to work on the garden. You have a lot of space to take care of. We have been busy finishing up a pet sit assignment(3 dogs). My husband got into the pet sit business when he retired at an earlier age. We call ourselves No Tail Left Behind. We go to a person's house to take care of their pets while they vacation, walk dogs, etc. lots of work, but love the pets.

Oh I love the name of your business and I admire the enterprising Spirit in finding a great way to supplement retirement and the benefits both health wise having to get out and walk the dogs and a way to make some extra money. I applaud both! I don't get my tech junkie husband outside much but I do get him to help me out b/c he is afraid I will try and do too much and he like helping me build anything I need. I know that I am blessed he cares enough to worry and help out when I need him the most =)

There is one dog named Gracie, a golden retriever that we walk and play with while her mom is at work. I found she likes being sung to and getting her fur rubbed down with a towel(paws can get muddy outside too). The Sound of Music seems to be her favorite song. We stay small, but are insured and bonded...also under Pet Sitters International. It is great your husband has been so helpful. Getting him outdoors will do him a world of good.

I love that you guys get to know the pets you care for so well. Yes getting hubby out doors always puts him in a good mood it is just the getting him there part that is sometimes a challenge. Tee hee But my son while only 8 is such a Wonderful Help. =)

It is important to know as much as possible about the pet. There is a better experience for everyone. One client has a dog that is old and is sensitive to being touched in certain areas...so we are careful. Pet sitting involves bringing mail, watering plants, and keeping a close eye on the house. It is good your son motivates his dad to enjoy the outdoors.

So you guys are like full service house or apartment sitters when someone is gone. You take care of their pets and all the other things that could make it look like they were away which cut down on them becoming victims of "vacation robbery" which is something many people need plus they don't have to put their pets in a kennel while their gone. My 8 year old is a slave driver. His Daddy and I will sit and take a break and he is always like, "come on, come on, come on we got stuff to do" lol he has been that way all his life. lol =)

We don't stay overnight at anyone's house...that would be difficult since we have other clients to take care of. We may spend a half hour or so per visit and there may be up to 5 visits a day at one place while they are vacationing. The core assignments are dog walks and those are usually a half hour. We spot check to make everything is o.k. during a visit. Your son really likes to keep you both moving around.

The pet doesn't have to be caged up at some boarding place and we give them special care. There has been an outburst of dog flu in the Chicago area and I am sure we are appreciated even more.
