The listing, SPACE SHUTTLE /1970 / which one is it ? has ended.

OK heres one for discussion , this is a 1970,s space shuttle , but the question is which one , it is all metal except for the boosters they are a gold hard plastic , it could be endeaver but they say it never went to space , could be columbia but there is no landing gear that i can see , so my guess would be endever , it did not have landing gear it was only a test model ,never flew on its own , that would make it 1976 this was made , if you can figure it out would love to know its 4 1/2 tall ,just think how much these young people are missing out on without a space program ,, these days

i think its the first one endeaver , that means 1976 made . if columbia its 1977

I know the first shuttle was the Enterprise. It never went to space but served as a test vehicle.

i think its that one because no landing gear ,enterprise did not have landing gear because it never went to space so i believe this is enterprise , these pencil sharpners have so much detail that i believe that if it was any of the others you would see the landing gear on the bottom of it . i had over 25 of these pencil sharpners each one such detail i cannot believe they would do this one and not put the landing gear in ..

I did see Columbia's 2nd launch when I was 8 years old. Their was plans to retire the Columbia and put it in a museum. NASA decided later to refit the Columbia so it could go back in space. Sadly the later choice was a mistake.

that is true also , i gues the question would be do they have endeaver in a museum and does it have landing gear , would love to know , just for the sake of knowing , and i do miss the space program and the launches , so exciting in the 60,s and 70,s made us all feel so proud to be american.

Interesting information about the shuttles on Wikipedia. Endeavour is now on display at the California Science Center. Enterprise is at the Intrepid Museum. Atlantis is on display at the Kennedy Space Center.

All shuttles had landing gear even the Enterprise. But I still think what you have has great detail.

Hello. All of the Space Shuttles have landing gear. They are hidden during launch and while in space. All of the shuttles (Atlantis, Discovery, Challenger and Endeavor) flew in space. The Enterprise flew in test flights only many times. You didn't mention in your description that this is a pencil sharpened. I am going by the photo of the bottom. Is this in good condition (any scratches or defects)? Is there a date of manufacture indicated? Thanks.

it is in perfect shape has been in a glass cabinet for many years , no manufacture on it , just made in china , i bought it in 1980 , at a antique shop .. that is all i know ,, linda

they are pretty hard to find anymore you muct have been collecting for a while , we had about 30 took us about 20 years to collect that many , we do not collect anymore ,, linda
