Description

The listing, 1964 Topps #141 DANNY MURTAUGH (Pirates) & 1966 Topps #503 LENNY GREEN (Red Sox) has ended.

This is a lot of 2 vintage 1960s Topps baseball cards.

1964 #141 DANNY MURTAUGH (Pittsburgh Pirates)
1966 #503 LENNY GREEN (Boston Red Sox)

Murtaugh played second base for 9 seasons, but is best known for his career managing the Pittsburgh Pirates, leading the Buccos to World Series titles in 1960 and 1971 and helping the careers of Hall of Famers Roberto Clemente, Willie Stargell, and Bill Mazeroski along the way. Murtaugh actually retired the management position on 3 separate occasions, moving to the team's front office, and was consistently asked to take the helm after the failures of other managers hired to take his place. Two months after his 4th retirement in 1976, Murtaugh died of a stroke. His jersey (#40) was retired by the Pirates in 1977.

Lenny Green played 12 MLB seasons between 1957-1968, seeing most of his playing time with the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins franchise, for whom he was the regular centerfielder from 1960-1963; he also manned the position as the starting centerfielder for much of 1965 with the Red Sox. A crisp fielder who led the league in several defensive categories, he batted .267 for his career with a nice .351 on base percentage.

See photos.
Green card has nice corners and is clean aside from a visible bow, center. Card would grade fair to good.
Murtaugh card is in no better than fair condition; creasing is minimal, but the corners are rough and the surface has a couple of scuffs.
