Description

The listing, Spirit Circle necklace - Stage Three Creations special! has ended.

Unakite (“growing together”) is an unusual and intriguing gemstone. The combination of red jasper and green epidote give the stone its unique beauty.

Some say Unakite lifts your spirits and helps you see the beauty in life. Others claim it’s an excellent stone to use in visualization exercises, since it clears the mind of clutter.

To me, its beauty alone is enough reason to wear it often. On this lovely 24” necklace, tiny polished unakite beads alternate with black glass to set off the large “donut” of pure unakite. Comes with a Tibetan silver clasp.

SPECIAL for Listia members -- I'll include a matching set of earrings!

Smoke and pet-free studio!

No! I don't think so. The stone is unakite -- a hard stone. Plus, it's always possible that the small stone would come loose. This is definitely for us older "babes in arms!" <G>

yes i read that too, remember that Wikipedia is people made and subject to be added to by anyone, and doesn't usually contain all information. It's different than encyclopedia, which yes is also people made lol that was kinda dumb of me, But i mean, made by professionals :) After I read that, i specifically looked up grey unakite :)

You're absolutely right about Wikipedia, although I find it by and large very accurate. Here's the info on unikite from Central Michican University: http://stoneplus.cst.cmich.edu/unakite.htm -- natural unakite is usually green and red. Although the great thing about gemstones is that no two are alike! Grey Unakite is beautiful, too ...

I looked it up after I saw this and grey is natural unakite. And it is not always green and red. but it is always very pretty :)

Hmmmm... that's a little different than what my sources say. Here's the info from Wikipedia:

First discovered in the United States in the Unakas mountains of North Carolina, unakite is an altered granite composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, green epidote, and generally colorless quartz. It exists in various shades of green and pink and is usually mottled in appearance. In good quality unakite is considered a semiprecious stone, will take a good polish and is often used in jewelry and other lapidary work such as eggs, spheres and other carvings like animals. It is also referred to as epidotized granite. In some of the Blue Ridge occurrences an epidotized augen gneiss is present exhibiting foliation structures.

If it's grey, it's probably not Unakite (which is green and red). But I think grey stones can be absolutely stunning! I made one with these huge nuggets of greyish polished agate and it looks great no matter what I wear it with.

Carving stone is one thing I haven't tried yet? There is a lapidary studio at my local senior center and I have thought about it, but until I learn, I buy some of the stone supplies from other artists. I loved designing the necklace around the circle!

I'll definitely try, but Listia doesn't let us keep the points, so this gets kind of expensive for me! Still, it's so much fun that if my Facebook page gets lots of fans (or I make a few sales on my site <G>) I'll post at least one each month.

I've thought about that and I think I will try my hand at a few more masculine pieces. I am starting a new line called "Abundant Health" that will feature jewelry FOR holistic healers AND jewelry made with materials that have inherent healing qualities, including a few Chakra pieces. Helping people achieve true health and prosperity are two of my major goals!

Great art work! I fanned you on Listia and Facebook. Always happy to support other artists. I will have my sponsored link up this month. I like seeing how other people have presented their items. I enjoyed reading your article about "wearing prosperity". Currently I am wearing a beautiful necklace of Larimar. I truly believe in the healing powers of stones. Namaste. :-)
