Hi there and thanks so much for your interest. They way it was explained to me is that when you put in your max bid, it goes up for you by increments. For example, say the current bid on something is 100 and I put in 500 as my max bid. If the previous bidder's max bid is 1000, it will show the bid as 501 or something like that and that means I was out bid. If that person had bid 200 as their max and I bid 500 as my max, it would show 201ish as my bid at that moment. If another bidder came along 2 hours later and bid 400, it would automatically put a bid in for me of 401ish since I said I would go to 500. Does that make sense? :)
