First Day of Issue, or, also known as, First Day Cover. When a new stamp is released. These are made mainly for stamp collectors. The new stamp is put on an envelope, then postmarked with the date, and "FIRST DAY OF ISSUE". You can see it in the photos. Most of the time, the envelope will have an image on the left side, regarding the stamp subject matter. Some people collect just stamps....some collect these covers....and some people collect both....like me!
