This is an original vintage 1962 Topps #297 RON PERRANOSKI baseball card.

In the annals of "forgotten relief pitchers', Perranoski is a lost superstar. Over the course of his first 7 seasons (all with the Dodgers, from 1961-1967) Ron compiled a paltry 2.56 ERA over 750 innings of relief work. In 1962. he went 16-3 with 21 saves and a 1.67 ERA for the 1963 World Champs, good enough to place him 4th in MVP voting. Traded to the Twins after the 1967 season for BOTH Mudcat Grant and former MVP Zoilo Versalles, he responded by leading the league in saves in both 1969 and 1970. Perranoski has 4 World Series rings, 2 as a player and two as a pitching coach for the Dodgers (1981 & 1988).
