Though this is a "Silver Proof" it is actually a copper slug with a very thick silver plating. Why they call it a "silver proof" is beyond me.

Whatever you want to call it weighs 12 Troy ounces! It's a copper slug and the silver on it is a thick lair.

Proof is simply a method of manufacturing- it does not indicate content. Any coin or medallion could be a 'proof' version.

Calling this a silver proof and stating the weight makes it sound valuable, as if it were really precious metal. The weight is actually irrelevant; since the item is base metal. The whole name is misleading, and many people have bought these on eBay thinking they are getting real silver.
