The listing, The Liars Club - Very Good Condition has ended.
Mary Karr's work 'The Liar's Club' is an autobiographical account of one traumatic event in her life. The event happens when she is seven. Karr structures the work into three parts, beginning with a recounting of the events of 1961. In this first part of the book, Karr's mother is taken away due to a nervous breakdown; Karr's behavior deteriorates under a demanding grandmother; and her father introduces her to the liar's club. In the second part of the book, Karr confronts life with her mother. Her mother's mental health deteriorates; and Karr experiences sexual abuse for the first time. Life for all becomes intolerable, which only affects Karr's attitude about life even more. By the end of 'The Liars Club,' the third part to be exact, Karr's father has a stroke, her mother has become addicted to prescription drugs, and Karr reveals why her mother's attitude about life has affected her so greatly.
