yeah I kno... ive been working on them since I was seven which is about the same time... my problem is that my tower is/was (idk at this point) windows xp home and it decided to just cut out altogether... and ive shut it down correctly every time

this is my hobby i been doing it since 2002 i have so many computers and computer parts when people come over sit on my couch they ask man what am i sitting on i say humm stand up oh thats a hard drive..lol..or i forget to move the mother board out the bed and i roll over on it and wake up with cuts. one thing that cause a computer to freeze is not being shut down properly you have to shut it down from the start menu if not it will say windows didnt shut down properly then it will try to repair it self but some people dont have patience so they go pushing the power button and then that cause the files to not load and become corrupt then you have to install the operating system again..when you cut it on let all software load some does updates and take a few min to load depending on how many programs your loading ..this computer loads quick i got webcam ..avg and hangouts all loading on start up and it takes about 15 seconds a single core would load in about 1 min.
