Description

The listing, Autographed 1966 Topps JAKE GIBBS (Yankees) has ended.

This is a 1966 Topps card for Yankees catcher JAKE GIBBS.
The card was signed by Jake Gibbs,

A two-sport star at Mississippi, Gibbs was drafted by both the AFL (Oilers) and NFL (Cleveland Browns) after helping the Ole Miss Rebels win a consensus National Championship in 1960, including scoring both of the Rebels touchdowns in the Sugar Bowl. He opted, however, to pursue baseball and was signed by the New York Yankees in 1961and getting brief call-ups in '62, '63, and '64. A fine defensive catcher, he replaced Elston Howard as the Yankees regular backstop in 1967, a job he kept until the Yankees brought in Thurman Munson in late 1969. All told, he appeared in 11 MLB seasons, all with the Yankees.

Card was signed TTM (through the mail); comparing it with certified examples of Gibbs' autograph, I have no reason to doubt it's authenticity. I am just clearing out many of my TTM's and replacing them with certified examples, which is why this is being listed here.

Card shows some vintage wear, but really, you're chasing the autograph here, not the card.
GIN offers can be entertained via email.

To cover your question in detail:
As many other users here know, while it is not my current field of work, I am a qualified graphologist and handwriting analyst. I do have a network of budget collectors who send me autographs for an opinion before spending their hard-earned dough on slab authentication, and why not? I'm free, I do it because I enjoy it and because sometimes I get to handle something really cool in the process, and it helps them not waste their money sending in likely fakes..
As many users here also know, I actually collected (and still collect) many of the autographs I have as instructional aides for a class I assist in teaching once a year at a local community college. This is to say that I am actually more qualified than some of the people in the employ of authentication services to determine the authenticity of a signature.
What I am not is a notary. Qualified or not, if I apply my name to a document certifying anything, I have broken the law. There are a few users on Listia who are not notaries will offer you a self-generated certification on a hand-sign or a TTM, and I'm not going to stop them, but there are laws that pertain to such I'm not going to break the law for anyone.
But, no need to take my word on it. Most people want a $30 piece of paper from a "professional" with potentially less training, and that's cool by me. Everyone is welcome to buy what they are comfortable buying. If you are uncomfortable with this item, obtain a Jake Gibbs autograph elsewhere. I still have his home address here, if you really want it.
