The listing, formal gown pattern has ended.
This is a new uncut pattern. It is for a wedding dress or formal gown. I bought it to make my wedding dress but became pregnant before we made the dress. It is for dress size 14-20.
I "kinda" am too, I've followed some patterns, and my daughter wants a dress for a Military Ball.. size 18.. was thinking this MIGHT be a solution.. and get the Blue she wants.. Idea.. and it's in February.. might have enough time on Christmas break..
If you're looking for an easy pattern... this isn't it. I've used it before, and it was pretty difficult, and VERY time consuming. First off, unless you are 6'2", the pattern as it exists is going to be way too long. I'm 5'3", and I had to lop off about 6 inches at the hem. Then there's the pinning and tacking to get the skirt to rutch the way it does, which isn't too bad. But the bodice has boning and a zipper, both of which can be tricky for beginners.
I have been sewing since I was 10 years old, now 64. This is not easy just by looking at it. A professional needs to make it so it fits good for one and looks good for another. A lot of material for a beginner to deal with. Very over whelming when there is a lot of fabric and pattern to cut and pin. Then all the directions to understand. Zippers can be really nasty for the beginner and if there is boning we don't even want to go there. Get a professional seamstress....I know what I am doing and I wouldn't do this one for myself much less for anyone else.....I would pay someone!! Well worth it to look good and done on time!! Beautiful pattern though!!
WOW! I should brush up on my skills and start sewing big stuff. You have opened my eyes to what seamstresses are doing now days. I used to sew all my mothers clothes and mine during our days. Apparently I missed the boat on what I should have done to make big money! Thanks for the info. Good luck and cute baby!
I think it is crazy what people will spend on something they wear once for just a few hours. I sell tutu dresses. I made one a few weeks ago that cost me $30 to make and it was selling online for over $100. This was for a Halloween costume. People are crazy these days
