The Old cricket before they relaunched using CDMA could not be transfered to other company's , But if this phone is 3 months on im guessing its under the Re launch of Kricket and instead of CDMA<< Which is just the tech it runs on, They Now use GSM if kricket will allow the phone to be fully unlocked from their network then yes you should be able to use it with another service provider, Not all though but most.
Who ever is thinking about going ALL IN for this awesome phone, Id call kricket first and ask them do they unlock their phones from their service if you wanna go to another company.

If they say No, Well thats when you learn to do it yourself and Give them the middle finger(its your phone) And you Unlock it yourself. Thats what i have done with a few phones. It can take a few days to get the method just right depending on your phone and what it takes to unlock it.. But i can be done.

And no its not Illegal , it just voids the warranty on it. Also id suggest "rooting" your phone, its kinda like Iphones Jail break... Rooting opens up the phone 100% to you, like a computer some are set on ADMIN right? So only the admin can change some things, MOST SELLERS do this with phones 99% do really. So you root it and then your The "admin" . Plus it gives you allot more cool stuff to do with it.
