Yes, it can play both but there is no charger with it my kids left it lay out and my dog got the cord..

So the only thing that is wrong with the Ds is that the cord that charges it is damaged correct? I just want to know if it can be replaced?

yes works great and my sons game will be saved on it but you can reset it to factory settings but yes works great needs charger thanks hope that answered your question

it was barley used until my dog got the cord. Its been in my closet since then. So yeah its in decent condition.
