1966 5 cent Great River Road - Scott Catalog # 1319
Issued to publicize the 5,600 mile Great River Road, which is a largely undivided highway following the Mississippi River from New Orleans to Ontario, Canada.

FDC Info:
Little cartoon man, looks like a Captain of a ship, inside round Captains wheelreads: Great River Road, Canada to the Gulf. (This FDC has the block of four stamps).

Official First Day Cover, Mississippi River Parkway Commission. A salute to the Great River Road, longest parkway in the world. On both sides of the Mississippi. (Connected stamp pair)

2nd FDC: A great map of the eastern United States showing the river from Canada to the Gulf.
Postmark: Baton Rouge, IL Oct 21, 1966. I noticed the postmark does not have the zip code as some other FDCs do. Not sure why, I must look that up, LOL

Note: the top of the information card has in pencil: 1319-10.
