Description

The listing, Crown of Thorns CUTTING !*!*!*! has ended.

This auction is for one (1) cutting of yellow flowering
Crown of Thorns!

The color of the flower is yellow.

They do have thorns that look deadly but if you pick them up softly they do not stick into your fingers.

This plant is NOT hardy in Mich., or Northern States. It is a tropical and would be hardy in Southern states.

I summer mine outdoors and by fall it will have grown considerably.

Feel free to comment or ask questions.

Will ship to verified USA Listia address only/Local pick up also available.

Hi!
I've never started a Crown of Thorns cutting. How is it done and are they easy to root? Also, how big is the cutting I would be bidding on?
Thanks very much!

Hi Mary! Crown of thorns is a succulent so certain rules apply. Since I don't cut it from the plant until the auction is almost won, it will need to "callous" (to dry on the cut edge so it won't rot during the rooting process).

When you get it you can put it in about an inch of DRY vermiculite (use a yogurt cup or something similar--drainage not necessary.)

I would not water it for about a week, then water the vermiculite very little (just until it is BARELY damp! Pour off any excess water--you don't want the cutting to rot or drown. You cannot root this in water or even wet soil.

BARELY damp nothing more. Just keep it in this state of pretty much almost dry and it should root nicely for you! Once rooted you can plant it in your favorite soil mix!

The actual cutting the winner will receive will be somewhere around 4 inches. It may have a curve in it but that is because my mommy plant has pretty wild arms! Look at the photo of her and you will see that.

I am trying to trim her back to stimulate dormant buds to break.

If you have any more questions please ask. I don't mind.~~Rosie
