The listing, Rare Coin; Canada; 5 cent; 1967; “Hopping Rabbit’ Confederation Centennial; Die Rotation Error has ended.
Thank you for browsing.
If you’ve seen my other auctions, you know I have a thing for “the bunny” and recently purchased a mint roll. While putting a few in coin flips, I was (at first) upset with myself for not putting this coin in straight; but quickly realized it was the coin, not me, that was the problem. My research netted only mention of an error on the 1967 dime and quarter, I could find nothing at all for the nickel...with the exception of an eBay auction for one in a slab with a 90 degree die rotation error.
The winner of this auction will receive one (1) 1967 Canadian 5 cent (nickel) coin - freshly removed from a mint roll (5th pic). This coin has a 20 degree counter-clockwise die rotation error (see comparison, 3rd and 4th pics). The metal composition is 99.9% nickel; diameter of 21.21mm; weight 4.54 grams and mintage was 37,000,000. As I could find no information, I am unsure of how many of these error coins were circulated but, based on that lack of information, I’m thinking that it’s rare.
Despite what my friends and I believed (wished), when we were wee boys, there is absolutely no scientific evidence that this coin will bring you fame, fortune or Farrah Fawcett. ;-) But then, there’s no proof that it won’t either. But maybe it’s the rare die rotation that brings all the luck… ;-)
PLEASE NOTE - You will receive the exact coin shown in the photos, but only the die rotation error coin, normal uncirculated coin is for comparison purposes only. Mention of “fame, fortune and FF” for entertainment purposes only - no guarantee is implied or warranted by the seller. Coin easel NOT included.
