Description

The listing, Vintage Tested and WORKING Atari 2600 VCS Video Game Console + 15 Games and Extras! has ended.

This is my first of 4 big video game console listings! A fully tested and working vintage "light sixer" Atari 2600 VCS! Every game, controller, and peripheral has been tested and everything works!

What you get:

-An original Atari 2600 from the late 70's-early 80's (not a replica or flashback unit)

-2 working joystick controllers

-a set of working paddle controllers

-RF switch and AC adapter

-15 working games including arcade classics such as Frogger, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders, and Millipede

-Free shipping with tracking!

-Reaching 50K gets 3 more games thrown in, 100K 5 more!

-If you're friendly, I'm more than willing to provide you with a plethora of good advice...I own 3 Atari systems and consider myself a knowledgeable resource! I can point you towards some of the best games, tell you what you need to do to hook it up to a modern HDTV, or just offer trivial history points!

Ok, so now the more serious stuff...first off, I know the starting bid may be high for some of you. I usually like to start low, but since this puppy will be expensive to ship and I hate charging for shipping, I chose to instead start at an amount that would help ensure I at least got a fair credit amount for the shipping. I will not lower starting bid or the number of days. Please look at some of the other listian's Atari items here. Some people are asking 10-20K for a single game and 3 bucks just to ship it. Huh? A full setup starting at 25k aint bad, folks. I want someone to win this, be excited, and enjoy it. That's why its here instead of ebay.

2nd part: Listia verified bidders only! Once we have a winner, I have up to 7 days to ship per listia policy, though I will usually do so sooner. So lets have some fun with this! If the response is good, I list a PS3 next followed possibly by a Nintendo Wii and Sega Genesis...maybe a NES if im feeling good! Christmas is coming and I want to hook you guys up! So keep the comments positive and good luck!

I have one of the wood grain models and atari 2600 juniors and ton of games. I'm an avid collector of vintage systems I don't have enough credits now fanned. :)

Cool. You probably have most of this anyway. The only old Atari system I dont have is a 5200. Thanks for looking

Oh yeah, I am only 24 and my first ever system was an SNES. I love the simplicity of the old consoles. I have read all about ET so I'm semi familiar with its history! Just hoping to add this system to my collection, i have a nice plan for all my systems!

Cool, ill see if I can find an extra copy around as a bonus to the winner. In the meantime the listing has been updated to reflect the 10 games added.

Ive never even played E.T! Ive wanted an Atari since i first started playing video games! That and and NES, trying to get these two systems into my collection!

Ha ha. So im guessing you are a younger guy? That's good that you want to try out the older consoles. When you play an Atari you might not get the sense of nostalgia but you will get a feel for the roots of gaming and how far its come. If you win this, I can give you an ET, but it isnt a good game lol. Its popular for causing the 80's game market crash.

We made it to 100K! When I get home from work this evening, I'll be updating the listing with the 10 additional games that will be added!

You'll probably get extra credits now for that above statement on shipping!
By the way I just listed the SNES in case your handy at fixing stuff also? look for "Snes console" Think I better add "READ" in the title. If someone "GIN's it you'll probably get those credits for this auction...

Fanned ya and all that... I also won a SNES on here just a little bit back. It was sent in a shoe box and by the time I got it the system looked like someone took an axe to it. Listia was nice enough to return points so I might re-list it tonight for parts. But my question to you then is... your not shipping this in a shoe box or boot box are you?

Lol. I havent boxed it up yet, but ive got a variety of shipping boxes thanks to the warehouse department at my work. Im pretty sure ill have something suitable. Additionally, I will line the box with bubble wrap and probably wrap the console in bubble wrap as well. Got a whole roll of that stuff.

If I remember right the mystery was a mint CIB copy of street fighters or something like that... The Saturn is the only one I do not have. I may be listing a Dreamcast though.

Turned out they waited to long for the one I wanted to give, but gave 2-3 moderately rare games instead. Plus that system was in near mint condition for it's age... it was a good deal for the winner.

I had wanted to bid on it but I already owned most of the games and I have 3 systems, so I couldnt justify it. The mystery game almost hooked me though, lol. Im kind of hoping someone lists a Sega Saturn, I sold one long ago but havent owned one in years.

UPDATE: We made it to 50K! Im throwing in 5 games instead of just 3 like I said before. I've also decided to add 5 more if it gets to 75K! Will post pics of the 5 added games soon.

Would bid if the box was still there. I already own 3 and only have two boxes. The box is as valuable as the games and controllers

Indeed. I have a boxed 7800 but not the 2600.

Thought I'd ask... do you have any of the booklets or cases for any of the games?
Sep 24th, 2014 at 6:41:01 PM PDT by

I have several manuals in my personal collection, some for the games you see here, but I keep them with my copies of these games. I can let a couple go as a bonus if bids get high. :-) As far as boxed games, I have just a few that I keep and display. I auctioned a couple of those off a couple months ago here.

When I want to use an old gaming machine with the coaxial thingy, I just hook the machine up to an old VCR, then hook the VCR to my TV with the red, white and yellow cords. No problem.
I intend to bid on this auction, but I doubt I`ll win. Good luck.
Sep 20th, 2014 at 4:09:31 PM PDT by

Ha! Yeah the VCR trick is an option as well, I had forgotten about that. But getting one of those little adapters is far less cumbersome. Good luck!

Sep 19th, 2014 at 6:44:02 AM PDT by
Original
So how do you set this up? Is it coaxial?
Sep 18th, 2014 at 5:43:36 PM PDT by
Original
Yes. It has a hardwired coax input designed for an RF switch. I'm including an old RF switch, but I'm recommending that those with HDTV's spend the 4 or 5 bucks anf buy something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Atari-2600-Coaxial-Plug-Female-Adapter/dp/B0028MXOF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=undefined&sr=8-1&keywords=coax+atari

I bought one of these, and it drastically improves the picture quality over an rf switch. I don't have an extra to spare, though.
