Well, you have to buy the candy that the coupon is good for in order to use the coupon... so technically yes, you have to have the item at the register. But this coupon will scan and take off whatever the cost of the candy is. You dont have to buy something first and then get the $5 off...its just $5 off so it makes your candy free. All my coupons I have posted are that way.
