Description

The listing, Elm Tree Seedling Great for Bonsia or to Plant has ended.

This little Elm tree seedling is just waiting to become a Bonsai or a great shade tree (the winner gets the seedling in the medicine bottle). I believe this to be an American Elm. We have one of these in the back yard and it is a great shade tree!

The American elm can adapt to a wide range of soil types and moisture conditions. It prefers well-draining, rich loam but also does well in poor-draining clays and dry, sandy soils. Soil type affects tree height. On average it grows to 80 feet high and 70 feet wide but grows to around 125 feet in rich, fertile soil and to only about 60 feet tall in dry soils. It does well in acidic or alkaline soil.

I have not grown a bonsai so you would want to look up how to trim them. I do know you must plant them in a very shallow pot/dish and that you trim them and train them to grow in the shape you want. I also believe it takes many years to do. This is a good start for one, as it has remained small because it's in such a small container and the roots don't have room to spread out.
If you choose to bid and win, I hope you have fun growing it. Fanned back!
