With most computers, the software should detect and install it automatically. On my older computers, some of the peripherals aren't recognized automatically, but I was able to use all the webcams I tried (and I had a bunch of them on a bunch of different older computers). If your computer is less than five years old, you probably won't have a problem.

will this work on a 2009 E-machines computer? i bought webcam of ebay b4 n it wouldna work.

It should work on any PC (non Mac). It worked on my old Dell computers, can't imagine why it wouldn't work on a 2009 E-machine, but sometimes you have to fuss around with these things. If Windows doesn't install it automatically, you have manually find and install it, but I think with a computer as new as yours you would not have to do that. If you don't know how to manage peripherals on your computer, you'll need to find someone who can help you do that.
