This book is one I referred to quite a bit for authentic Chinese meals. They have been adapted for the American kitchen but the recipes are NOT like what you get at your local Chinese restaurant. This is real chinese cooking. If you truly want ALOT of different Chinese recipes on every flavor and variety then this is the book for you. There is over 1000 recipes in this book! The dust jacket has lots of wear but it is still intact. The binding is still in very good condition and it does have all of its pages.

There are no dog or horse recipes in this book. Nor will you find pig brain soup. It has been adapted for the American kitchen, meaning using what is considered appropriate and non-offensive to the Western values. Yet on the off chance you did have a dog I would hope you think of buying a market ready dog or one already slaughtered before sticking the family pet into the pot. My wife used to have 2 pet pigs and they never ended up as bacon for our breakfast... geesh!

Children tend to like chinese food and this book has recipes for even the pickiest of eaters. My one friend borrowed it for a few weeks just to write down all of the finger food recipes. She has an autistic son who refuses to hold a fork. He loves eating his chinese finger foods. She even makes many in advance and packs him a daily lunch.

I love me some Chinese food, but unfortunately, it is the Americanized versions of Chinese food. This would be a great book for someone who loves cooking, cookbooks or just starting to learn the art of Chinese cooking. ;)

it can be yes, it can be unhealthy (fatty and salty) too. For any ethnicity it depends on what and how you cook it. But this has both types of recipes and most are very good.

It is easier than you think! I love the amount of fresh veggies the recipes have compared to many Western comfort foods. We eat from the asian array of foods at least 4 times a week.
